Description

Hypnosis is a powerful thing. It can relieve tension, cast away stress, and relax the mind. It can even make you forget. These ideals are what make Dr. Witcher’s business in therapeutic hypnosis so successful. First and most importantly, the person being hypnotized has to want to be hypnotized. There must be full compliance and no fear. Dr. Witcher’s clients come out feeling like they were just reborn with a fresh outlook on life. There is no magic at work here -- only science and acceptance. The act of hypnotizing someone is fairly straightforward in Dr. Witcher’s opinion. He will begin by asking the patient all sorts of questions. Some of them will sound off-topic, but they all serve a purpose – to get to the root of what is troubling the patient. Dr. Witcher only wants to understand why his patient has come to him and how he may be able to help. He will then begin to explore the underlying needs of the patient, needs that the patient might not even be aware of. This is the story of Jane Delvo and how Dr. Witcher helped her overcome her troubles. “Come in, Ms. Delvo,” Dr. Witcher said with a kind smile on his face. Jane cautiously stepped into his office. The room was inviting and smelled of lavender thanks to a small air freshener in the corner. The walls were colored a pale blue scattered with outlines of bluebirds drawn in by hand. The couch that sat against the wall was dark brown leather and looked very comfortable. It was old but kept in good condition. Beside that was a coffee table. On the coffee table sat a couple of month-old magazines and an orange and yellow lava lamp. Jane assumed that was to add to the hypnotist theme. Based on her awkward stance and unsure eyes, this was obviously her first experience with therapeutic hypnosis, and for that matter, any type of hypnosis. Dr. Witcher’s appearance surprised her. The look of a hypnotist in her mind was admittedly clichΓ©d. She expected a crazy man with wild white hair jutting out in opposite directions, thick rimmed circular glasses, and a swirling circle strapped to his forehead. She expected the equivalent of a mad scientist from TV! No, this man looked much more normal. His glasses were not thick-rimmed, they were thin framed and rectangular. He was also not old. He appeared to be the same age as her. His hair was mostly dark brown with slight graying on his sideburns and going behind his ears. While embarrassed at the fact, she noticed how fit he was too. He wore his white lab coat open, revealing a black tank top. Under the tank top she glanced to see the slight imprint of a 6-pack against his shirt. All of these things set her mind more at ease.
